The Contemporary Art Museum (CAM) of Raleigh will renovate an existing warehouse it owns in downtown Raleigh to become its main exhibition space. The new adaptive-reuse scheme was introduced in spring 2008. The original scheme, which had called for a housing component, was abandoned in the face of the mounting housing-market downturn. The new scheme encompasses 20,000 square feet. The design process is being fast-tracked, with a scheduled opening in late 2009 or early 2010.
